Statue of Velazquez, Madrid Spain

This statue is a tribute to the great Baroque painter Diego Velazquez, who made countless contributions during the Spanish Golden Age. It is located outside the Prado National Museum in Madrid, Spain

It was done by Aniceto Marinas, a famous Spanish architect, who achieved an expressive global composition and at the same time recreated in meticulous details. It is a full-size, seated figure, with the painter's characteristic signs: the palette, the brushes and the tiento, to which must be added the sword and the cloak gathered on the back of the seat. The painter's image is really naturalistic, faithful to the artist's portraits.
