Francisco Goya Monument
A monument dedicated to Francisco Goya, one of the several that can be found in Madrid. This hidden gem can be found between the Florida cemetery, where many of the heroes of May 2 are buried, and the Hermitage of San Antonio de la Florida
It is the work of Joaquín Vaquero Turcios (1933-2010), a famous painter, sculptor and architect from Madrid, and was inaugurated in 1996. It is created in an expressionist style and consists of 4 huge walls made of concrete. Goya’s name is spelt out on the front of the monument, with one letter per stone, and on the back are several phrases that are attributed to him.
